World Glaucoma Week 3/11-17

World Glaucoma Week is coming up on March 11-17, 2018 and we’d like to share our thoughts about Glaucoma. Glaucoma is a sight threatening eye disease that is most critical to detect in the early stages. Not only is it important to understand that it is a very slowly progressive blinding condition but it’s also preventable with prescription eye drops if caught early.

Glaucoma is a condition where the optic nerve tissue is damaged due to high intra-ocular pressure. The biggest symptoms are peripheral vision defects and vision loss. Unfortunately, once you start to getting these symptoms, it’s usually far too late into the disease and irreversible. Some of the biggest risk factors include race, age, smoking, and someone in the family with the condition.
