Our Experienced Doctors

Brad Baggarly, OD

Originally from Chicago, Dr. Baggarly is a Claremont resident and  graduated both high school and college here in the Pomona Valley. He graduated from the Southern California College of Optometry school in 1990 and began seeing patients in Claremont later that year. Dr. Baggarly served as a Staff Optometrist at the Pacific Eye Institute in Upland and remained there part time for sixteen years. He is the only area Optometrist that has had hospital privileges and assists in pediatric surgeries at San Antonio Community Hospital.

 

Currently, Dr. Baggarly is a member of the Advisory Board for the Ontario NVision Laser Vision Center and has served Doctors’ Advisory Board for Compulink Business Systems, a medical software company.

 

Dr. Baggarly is a past president of the Inland Empire Optometric Society and participates in Operation Stand Down, a yearly event providing free medical care to homeless veterans.  He also manages a free clinic providing free exams and glasses to the residents of the Coachella Valley.  Dr. Brad enjoys tinkering with computers, playing the drums or keeping up on his favorite sports team, the Cubs.

Nicole I. Kohan, OD, FSLS

Claremont Optometry is pleased to introduce Dr. Nicole Kohan.  Dr. Kohan graduated Cum Laude from UCLA and  Summa Cum Laude at the Southern California College of Optometry (SCCO) where she was the recipient of numerous scholarships and awards.  During her residency at the Veterans Administration, Sepulveda VA clinic, she received advanced training in geriatric optometry and ocular disease treatment and management. She is glaucoma certified and frequently works in concert with other physicians caring for those with diabetes, cataracts, macular degeneration and other various age related ocular conditions.  Dr. Kohan is the only Inland Empire optometrist accepted as a Fellow of the Scleral Lens Society dedicated to the fitting of specialty contact lenses on diseased or post operative eyes. She also has a special interest in Myopia Management and is certified to treat myopia with low dose atropine and the newly FDA approved MiSight Brilliant Futures Myopia Management Program by Coopervision.

During her residency Dr. Kohan cared for mostly older veterans and their families, but she enjoys seeing patients of all ages, including children.  While a student at SCCO, Dr. Kohan volunteered as a reading tutor for visually impaired pediatric patients.  For many years, she served as an optometric volunteer for the Special Olympics.  Since licensed in 2015, Dr. Kohan has been a leader in the Optometric profession at the local, state and national level and has been elected to Board positions in both the the LA County Optometric Society, culminating as President in 2016 and most recently as a Board Member of the Inland Empire Optometric Society. She currently serves on the NVISION Ontario Advisory Board. In 2021 she was awarded the "Young Optometrist of the Year" award by the California Optometric Association.

Dr. Kohan's personal interests include traveling, hiking, biking and camping.  She is a "foodie" and also  enjoys oil painting, photography, cooking and dancing.

After five years in practice in Los Angeles, Dr. Kohan now calls the Pomona Valley her home and hopes to provide your family's vision exams for many years to come.

Dr. Lok Or, OD

Meet Dr. Or, your dedicated optometrist at Claremont Optometry. Originally hailing from the vibrant city of Vancouver, Dr. Or's journey has taken him from the picturesque landscapes of Canada to sunny Southern California. After completing high school at University High in Irvine, he continued his academic journey at UC Riverside, where he cultivated a deep interest in eye care. Dr. Or's educational pursuit eventually led him to the esteemed halls of Western University of Health Sciences College of Optometry, from which he proudly graduated in 2018, carrying with him a wealth of knowledge and a commitment to improving vision for his future patients.

In 2023, Dr. Or brought his expertise and warm personality to Claremont Optometry, and he has since become an invaluable part of our dedicated team.

Dr. Or's favorite aspects of working at Claremont Optometry include the professionalism of the staff and the friendly nature of the patients. He believes that a welcoming environment fosters better eye care, making Claremont Optometry the perfect place for him to practice his passion for optometry.

When he's not busy ensuring that the community has the best vision care, Dr. Or enjoys indulging in a variety of hobbies. You might spot him on the basketball court, perfecting his jump shot, or at the range, honing his sharpshooting skills. He's also an avid movie buff, with "Interstellar" holding a special place in his heart, and you'll often find him exploring the local culinary scene, seeking out new and exciting restaurants.
